Smart 2.0 belay device phantom

Intuitively operated belay device with reliable blocking of the climbing rope. The first generation of the smart belay device was launched in 2009. Based on this experience, the Smart 2.0 offers a significantly improved braking effect as well as optimized geometry and intuitive handling. The newly developed brake insert blocks the rope in the event of a fall. The belaying method of the Smart 2.0 is analogous to the previous model and is therefore designed to match the reflex movements of the belayer.

For the Smart 2.0, Mammut recommends using the Smart HMS. Suitable rope diameters are 8.7 to 10.5 mm.

The 80 gram light Smart 2.0 is easy to use and has no moving parts or levers. The Smart 2.0 works according to the Tuber principle, so it is equally suitable for lead climbing and top rope climbing. In the event of a fall, the Smart 2.0 blocks the climbing rope, while the newly developed high-performance brake insert interacts with the safety carabiner. It offers the belayer optimal support and more security.
